In 2015, when Osprey made the decision to build a single 27,000-square-foot world headquarters to unite their administrative staff in one location in downtown Cortez, Colorado, they wanted the design team to incorporate sustainable building practices, including energy-efficiency, non-VOC paints, recycled insulation, recycled carpet padding, recycled ceiling tiles, and waterless urinals.

They also wanted a comfortable, collaborative space for up to 120 employees. As always, ME&E set out to create a functional and comfortable environment from lighting to temperature for our client. “The best engineering is when no one notices it’s there,” says ME&E President, Dustin Sullivan.

Osprey’s location near the San Juan Mountains and desert landscapes inspires their product ideas and provides the perfect testing grounds for those products.  “We love the fact we’re discovering new places every weekend. That’s what makes Osprey a fun place to work,” Rob BonDurant, Osprey’s VP of Product and Marketing said. “The Monday morning watercooler chatter isn’t about politics, it’s who went where and why.” At ME&E, we do the same. And our packs? Osprey, of course.
